A new blue entertainment center has opened in the entertainment district of downtown Toronto.
It will be the first in Canada to offer premium entertainment including live performances by Canadian musical artists.
The new Blue entertainment center will be located on Dundas Street between Queen Street and University Avenue, just north of Toronto’s downtown core.
The entertainment center’s opening has been touted by Toronto Mayor John Tory as a “transformative moment” for Toronto’s entertainment industry.
A new Blue outlet for Canadian music, and Blue entertainment from the top to the bottom of the chain, will give Toronto’s music scene a more complete package than has existed before, Tory said.
The Blue entertainment area will feature three floors of theatres, a full-service restaurant, a cinema, a gym and fitness center, plus a cinema and a cinema lounge.
“This is a game-changing, high-end entertainment complex that will provide a premium experience for everyone and will give this area a distinct identity and an exclusive status,” Tory said in a statement.
“It will provide great opportunities for the arts community to showcase their talents and to create a place where they can shine their talent and bring their unique energy to the Toronto entertainment district.”
The entertainment complex will include a new Blue theatre, a new cinema, new gym, and a new fitness center.
The theatre will be operated by Toronto Symphony Orchestra and will feature a stage designed to showcase Canadian musical talent.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer our audiences a theatre that is uniquely designed to entertain our community, and will be a cornerstone for our future success,” said Dan MacLean, president and CEO of the Toronto Symphony.
“The theatre will serve as the centerpiece of the new entertainment district and showcase Canadian artists and music, as well as their talents, at a level that is unmatched anywhere in the world.”
A new cinema will be created at the Blue entertainment centre, which will seat 60 people.
The cinema will also have a full bar and restaurant area.
“I am delighted that the Blue Entertainment Centre is opening,” Tory added in his statement.
The Toronto Blue entertainment district is a mixed-use development that will include two levels of entertainment and entertainment-themed retail, including a new movie theatre, fitness center and fitness studio.
The area will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday to Friday, and from 8 p.y. to 11 p.h. on Saturdays and Sundays.
A total of 8,000 square metres will be built on Dundashas Street in downtown Toronto between Queen and University.
It includes a new retail mall, an office building, two residential towers, a sports arena and a hotel.
